An Important Media Evolution Will Happen in 2006. Will You Be There?

The democratisation of media is taking another big step in 2006. But this time, that big step is being made by taking small steps -- very small steps. While broadcast facilities, networks, post houses and others have been updating their shops with the latest High Definition gear, along come 270 companies from around the world -- companies like Nokia, Harris, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Siemens, Philips and many others -- who want to take media any and everywhere. And that everywhere means cell-phones and other handheld devices.

The odds-on favorite for success in this new arena is a technology called DVB -- Digital Video Broadcasting -- and it comes in two flavors: DVB-T (terrestrial) and DVB-H (handheld). And while it is highly unlikely that you will be changing your business model today or that you will soon be reaping whirlwind profits from the world of DVB-H, it is clear that DVB is going to change the market and 2006 will see its first big steps.

This week's Creative Cow Podcast has the Cow's Ron Lindeboom discussing DVB-H with host, Franklin McMahon. At NAB 2006, they have added a conference track called "MoTV: Mobile Video & TV Forum" that is bringing together experts to discuss these rapidly developing technologies and the business opportunities that they offer carriers, studio executives, content creators, producers, broadcasters, cable companies and others in the near future.

This issue of the CreativeCow Newsletter is another step towards introducing you to this exciting new transformation of media from that which we have known in the past. In the Creative Cow Podcast we have looked at these new technologies on a couple of previous occasions and our listeners have written us and told us how much they have appreciated these explorations. There is a revolution of media that is going on beyond the box in your living room or office. New technologies will shortly forever change the way that we look at media. Portable media is upon us. How will it affect your business in the days ahead?

It isn't all happening on the big screen, in the 2006 the word on the street is: Think Small.

CreativeCOW's Podcast episode 21:

DVB-H & Mobile Media with Ron Lindeboom, co-founder,
A talk with Joseph Nilo, noted podcaster and multimedia expert

In episode 21 of the podcast, host Franklin McMahon (left) talks with Ron Lindeboom of, about the rapidly changing world of media and how technologies like DVB-H are going to open up new opportunities for media professionals and businesses in the days ahead. It's a revolution of "media everywhere" and it isn't a pipedream. To quote Peter Gabriel, this is "as sure as eggs is eggs" and while it may not put any money in your pocket today or tomorrow -- it will soon be making a lot of money for those who understand it and can make the most of the opportunities it presents. Also on this week's show is an interview with noted podcaster and multimedia expert, Joseph Nilo (right), of Podcaster Confessions and Mac Pro Podcast who discusses producing great audio and video podcasting. Also in the show is a look at Adobe CS2 Suite Mac Intel Chip Support, Fee-based e-mail from Yahoo! and AOL, Sony Blu-ray DVD Movies and more creative tech news, interviews and reports.
