Sony has made quite a big splash in the video world with the release of their HDV camcorder, the HVR-Z1U. By itself, it is capable of images that have amazed many of the most jaded video professionals -- but as with all things, there's always room for improvement. By not having a microphone or wide-angle supplied, you can choose better components that will enhance the performance of this camera, taking it far beyond what is found on the stock version of this camera. In this article, CreativeCOW.net contributing editor Jim Harvey (right), walks CreativeCOW members through what they need to build the Ultimate Z1U set up. See if you agree and then pop by the Cow's HDV forum to interact with Jim Harvey and give him your feedback...

CreativeCOW's Podcast episode 11:

A talk with FX guru, Kino Gil: after major films like Contact, Starship Troopers
How
"mini-media" will change TV forever: The Cow's Ron Lindeboom joins Franklin McMahon in a discussion of the huge changes that will begin in earnest in 2006. If you've been struggling for more market, you need to listen to this show.
and much more!

In today's episode eleven of the CreativeCow.net podcast, host Franklin McMahon (left) talks with noted SFX guru, Kino Gil (right) who in his efforts to further his own storytelling -- after working on major films like Contact, Starship Troopers, Godzilla and many others -- started his own company to pursue filmmaking. In this interview, Kino looks at some of the successes and stresses of building an independent effects studio in Los Angeles where he lives. He looks at finding the inspiration to create art that dazzles an audience. Also in this episode, the Cow's Ron Lindeboom looks at how Cisco's recent Scientific Atlanta acquisition, along with AOL's new In2TV adventure and the new growth of "mini-venue" media outlets like video iPods and cell phones, spells an explosion in media that will see its first rumblings in 2006.
