The road to an edit decision isn’t as straight as we’d all like it to be. Is it proper to make an edit because the close-up happens to match the wide angle there? Do viewers just plain get tired of seeing the same shot? Or can a scene be helped with it? Or not? HOW DO YOU TELL? This seminar will focus on the why, when, where, and even if an edit decision is necessary. No matter what you are editing. The theory and techniques Jerry presents here will improve your final cut. These techniques can be helpful in either getting you a great start on the task at hand, or giving you a technique to improve that portion of your edit that “just isn’t working very well”. Remember editing systems don’t make edit decisions, you do. Learn to recognize an edit that makes sense and improves the cut, and one that, well, doesn’t.
